Diarrhea can be dangerous! Did you know?

Diarrhea causes dehydration. In other word it means, gallon of water is lost, if one suffers from it. Alongside loosing water from body, patient also tends to lose minerals which are essential for the body functioning.

Once in every year, an individual do face this problem. Typically, it lasts for two to three days and treated with medications. Urgent care doctors classify diarrhea as "osmotic," "secretory," or "exudative." A virus when infects the gut (intestine), it leads to intestinal flu.

  • Dairy products like milk or cheese
  • Fried food
  • Fatty foods like butter, margarine, oils, or nuts
  • Spicy foods
  • Insoluble fiber food that includes raw fruits, vegetables, whole wheat bread, corn, fruit or seeds. 
 Food that patient should eat:
  • Bananas
  • Plain white rice
  • Applesauce
  • Oatmeal
  • Cream of wheat
  • Plain macaroni or noodles
  • Boiled eggs
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Yogurt
2. Drug treatments: Health care professional provides various medications for the treatment of osmotic. Some of the medicines that patient should take are:
  • The amino acid L-glutamine
  • Pepto-Bismol (Bismuth subsalicylate)
  • Kaopectate (attapulgite)
  • Imodium AD (loperamide)
3. Alternative therapies: Besides medications, there are few alternate therapies that one might need. To name a few include intake of acidophilus capsules which helps in normal digestion as it contain few bacteria which protects the body, yogurt which contain acidophilus that work for better working of digestive system, peppermint, ginger and nutmeg which is the best home remedy to help solve digestive problems. Besides all these, calcium supplements like nelfinavir (Viracept) also help patient to get relieve from diarrhea.
